      In the five weeks since the launch of the post-payment mechanism at municipal parking lots in Kazan, 44,500 motorists have taken advantage of the new feature, reported Ildar Shakirov, deputy head of the Kazan executive committee, at a business Monday meeting in the Kazan mayor's office. "Overall, during this period (since June 15 – ed. note), 44,500 users have utilized post-payment – this accounts for approximately 5.5% of the total number of payments. Drivers were able to quickly adjust their parking time, pay for the missing minutes through the web portal or mobile app, and thus avoid fines," he reported. Currently, the post-payment feature is being refined in the "Kazan Parking" mobile application. It is expected that the new service will be available to users by the end of the year. "This means that parking spaces are freed up faster, and as a result, a greater number of people can use them, which was our goal at the start of the project," Shakirov noted. He reminded that this year, in areas near social facilities, the free usage time of municipal parking lots has been increased from 15 to 30 minutes. The funds generated from the operation of paid municipal parking lots, Shakirov added, are directed towards improving road safety.
