Tatarstan has become a leader in the Volga Federal District in the number of wills, with 16,000 registered in a year: people aged thirty-five and older are increasingly planning their inheritance.

By the end of 2025, the Republic of Tatarstan ranked first in the Volga Federal District in the number of notarized wills, and experts are noting a significant rejuvenation of the audience turning to this legal tool, reports RBC. According to the press service of the Federal Notary Chamber, 16,200 such documents were notarized in the republic, which is almost five percent higher than the figure for 2024. In Kazan itself, the increase in requests for will drafting reached twenty percent, while in rural areas it remains at five to seven percent. Lawyers attribute this trend to the growth of legal literacy among the population, the development of remote services, and the desire of citizens to independently determine the fate of their property. Most often, women and people aged 55-75 seek assistance in drafting wills, but there is also a noticeable increase among those aged 35-50. Today, about half of the requests come from the middle class, and in recent years, business owners have also become more active in drafting wills, creating personal funds. Annually, up to three thousand inheritance cases are considered in Tatarstan courts, and the number of disputes over contesting wills has increased by ten to fifteen percent over three years. A few days ago, it was reported that the Republic of Tatarstan was included in the list of Russian regions where there is a critical shortage of personnel in the healthcare system, and medical institutions are forced to operate at their limits.
