The Ministry of Labor of Tatarstan clarified the issue regarding the holiday on August 30.

      Residents of Tatarstan will not receive an additional day off in honor of Republic Day this year, as the holiday Sunday cannot be moved to the working Monday according to regional labor legislation norms. The official production calendar for August 2026 does not provide for an extended weekend due to the holiday Monday. The main national holiday of the region, Republic Day of Tatarstan, falls on calendar Sunday – August 30, which means there will be no automatic transfer to the 31st. According to the clarification from the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, with a standard five-day work week, the upcoming August will offer residents 21 working days and 10 legal days off. This figure has already been compiled taking into account all calendar nuances. The key difference in this case from the all-Russian practice lies in the legal status of the date. Although the Labor Code of the Russian Federation prescribes transferring non-working holidays from Saturday or Sunday to the nearest weekday, this rule has a caveat for the Federation subjects. Regional authorities have the right to establish their own holidays, and the transfer mechanism applies only if it is directly stipulated in local law. In Tatarstan, such a norm is not legally enshrined. Therefore, August 31, contrary to the expectations of some residents, will remain an ordinary working day. The Ministry of Labor of Tatarstan reminded that special calculation rules apply to national holidays in the republic, and this year is no exception. Thus, the celebration of Tatarstan Day will take place on Sunday, and on Monday, it will be back to the usual work routine.
