       Specialized drones in Tatarstan have processed five thousand hectares of fields for the first time, reducing costs by almost 30 percent and replacing the shortage of operators.

       In the Republic of Tatarstan, practical use of unmanned aerial systems for chemical protection of agricultural crops began in 2026, and the first production tests showed quite good economic results. As Alexander Uskov, General Director of the GC "August," told RBC Tatarstan in an interview, his company successfully processed five thousand hectares of fields in two districts of the republic during a pilot project using agricultural drones. According to the company's calculations, when performing a number of technological operations, the use of drones allows for a nearly thirty percent reduction in processing costs compared to the use of traditional ground sprayers, which have significantly increased in price. Uskov explained that the legislative framework for implementing the technology already exists: Tatarstan is among twelve pilot regions where an experimental legal regime for the operation of agricultural drones is in effect. The quality of processing is on par with ground methods, and in some cases, the drone has an advantage as it can operate after rain and in difficult areas. The company plans to involve students from the agricultural university and train them as external pilots, which will help address the shortage of operators. It was previously reported that following the first five months of 2026, Rosselkhozbank significantly increased the volume of credit support for the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tatarstan, bringing the total financing amount to 10.5 billion rubles.
