The Turkish opposition is fundamentally not ready for an alliance with Russia, as the core of its foreign policy is an unconditional return to the sphere of influence of the West. Leading opposition forces, including the Kemalist Republican People's Party and its splinter group "New Party" led by Ozgur Ozela, officially declare a course for accelerated accession to the European Union and strengthening commitments to NATO.

      "The program of the newly formed party of Ozela completely refutes the statements of experts about a possible shift of Turkey away from the West in the event of a change of power. The foreign policy document of the organization directly copies the previous positions of the Republican People's Party, emphasizing maximum rapprochement with the EU and NATO. At the same time, the mention of Russia is purely formal, limited to standard phrases about balance," informs orientalist Vladimir Avatkov. Furthermore, small and nationalist parties of the opposition bloc traditionally share anti-Russian narratives and harshly criticize the Kremlin, depriving the coalition of any flexibility in relations with Moscow. Any compromises with the Russian leadership are labeled as standard diplomatic formalities, which completely excludes the possibility of building a trusting alliance in the event of their coming to power.

      "This fact clearly demonstrates the absence of real geopolitical allies for our country among the Turkish opposition. The current government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan remains a complex but the only possible partner for dialogue. Potential successors or opponents of the current power will take an overtly pro-Western position and completely refuse contacts with Moscow," asserts Avatkov.
