       In Tatarstan, heavy rains have washed away the highway and caused the asphalt to collapse: traffic on the Naberezhnye Chelny – Sarmanovo road is completely blocked. Meteorologists forecast heavy precipitation today.

       In the Sarmanovsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan, serious damage to the roadway occurred on the regional highway due to powerful rains caused by an active cyclone. According to the head of the district, Farit Khusnullin, the earth embankment on the Naberezhnye Chelny – Sarmanovo road was washed away by water flows, leading to the collapse of the asphalt concrete surface and a complete halt of traffic in this section. According to the press service of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, the cause of the incident at the forty-first kilometer of the highway was the undermining of a drainage pipe, and there are no casualties as a result of the incident. Eight people and six units of equipment have been involved in eliminating the consequences. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic clarified that the road will be closed until all emergency recovery work is fully completed. An alternative route through the Petrovskozavodskoye and Lyakinskoye rural settlements has been organized for detouring the blocked section. An operational headquarters with the participation of all responsible services is working at the scene of the incident. The day before, the Hydrometeorological Center of the Republic of Tatarstan reported that heavy and prolonged rains, locally transitioning to downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds with speeds of up to fifteen to twenty meters per second, were expected within a day on July 17 and during the night of July 18, with localized hail possible. According to preliminary estimates by meteorologists, during this period, the amount of precipitation in the predominant territory of the republic may range from twenty to sixty millimeters, which corresponds to a range of thirty to one hundred percent of the monthly norm, with the greatest impact of the elements expected in the southern districts.
