       On Tuesday, July 28, a 16-year-old teenager went missing near the village of Smylovka in the Mamadysh district, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan. According to eyewitnesses, the boy was swimming in the Kama River with an adult relative in an unprepared area. At one point, he tried to swim back to the shore but could not. He disappeared underwater. Eyewitnesses attempted to save him, but to no avail.

       "Rescuers arrived at the scene and began searching for the teenager using a grid method. A total of 4,000 square meters were surveyed," the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan reported.

       The boy could not be found, so the search continued for the next two days. Rescuers searched not only the waters of the Kama but also the Smylovskaya Volozhka channel and the shoreline, which stretched for 4 kilometers. On the third day, divers found the teenager's body; he had drowned. The press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan reported that an inspection is currently being conducted by supervisory authorities regarding compliance with legislation on the prevention of neglect and offenses by minors. At the same time, the investigative committee initiated a criminal case under the article "causing death by negligence." The maximum penalty for this is imprisonment for up to 2 years.
