      Baggage will be transported in a new way

      Starting from September 1, 2026, the Ministry of Transport is introducing updated rules for the transportation of passengers and baggage, reports RIA Novosti. In taxis, the number of baggage spaces and their payment will now be determined by the carrier. With the driver's consent, items can be placed in the cabin if they do not interfere with driving. Wheelchairs are transported free of charge. There is a direct ban on the transport of foul-smelling and dangerous substances. Animals can only be transported if the requirements are met: dogs must be muzzled, on a leash, and with bedding; small animals and birds must be in closed containers with access to air. The carrier has the right to impose additional conditions. On intercity routes, carriers are required to inform passengers about the level of comfort before purchasing a ticket: the presence of air conditioning, toilets, and luggage racks. This information will be available on websites, in applications, and at ticket offices.

      A unified procedure is being introduced: for transporting baggage beyond the norm, the passenger must present a baggage receipt to the controller. The rules will be in effect until September 1, 2032.
