Tatarstan has entered the top 20 regions of Russia for road quality.

      The Republic of Tatarstan ranked 19th among the regions of Russia in terms of the quality of public roads. The corresponding rating, based on data from the end of 2025, was compiled by RIA Novosti. In Tatarstan, the share of public roads of regional or inter-municipal and local significance that meet regulatory requirements was 65.8%. The density of paved public roads per 1,000 square kilometers of the republic's territory was found to be 483 kilometers. Tatarstan's neighbors in the ranking were Lipetsk Oblast, which took 18th place, and Perm Krai, which ranked 20th. Among the regions of the Volga Federal District, Bashkortostan achieved a higher position, coming in 14th. The top 10 regions for road quality included Moscow, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Ingushetia, Sevastopol, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, Adygea, Krasnodar Krai, Dagestan, Moscow Oblast, and Tyumen Oblast. St. Petersburg was in 11th place. In 2025, Tatarstan allocated 82.2 billion rubles for the repair and construction of regional and local roads. In the current year, 2026, these expenditures increased to 91.4 billion rubles.

      In January, at a meeting of the Ministry of Transport of Tatarstan, the head of the department, Farit Khaifov, noted that at the end of last year, only 52.23% of regional roads were in a satisfactory condition, while by 2030 this figure should reach 60%.
