Divers are examining the bottom of the water body in hopes of finding the body of a 17-year-old young man who went underwater on August 2 and has not yet been found. As reported to Tatar-inform by Regina Gayazova, head of the department for the safety of people in water bodies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Tatarstan, the teenager, born in 2008, was resting at the city beach, but the tragedy occurred outside the officially permitted swimming area. "The State Inspectorate for Small Vessels requested divers to examine the bottom. Currently, the search continues. I remind you that Lake Izumrudnoe is a place for mass recreation, and there are posts of the OSVOD. However, the missing young man was swimming in an area not designated for swimming, where there were no duty posts," emphasized Regina Gayazova. Rescuers began large-scale searches from the first day. On the first day, divers examined 500 square meters of the water area at a distance of 50-60 meters from the shore and at a depth of up to 15 meters. However, despite all efforts, the examination yielded no results. Work was halted with the onset of darkness. The next day, the search group significantly expanded the area. Divers have already examined 8,000 square meters of the bottom, and a side-scan sonar allowed scanning 15,300 square meters of underwater territory. This made it possible to look into hard-to-reach areas of the water body that cannot be visually inspected.
