       Digital currency will officially be recognized as property starting September 1: it will be allowed to buy, sell, gift, and inherit it. The main provisions of the law "On Digital Currencies and Digital Rights" will come into effect on this day, TASS was informed by Igor Igoshin, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Competition Protection. The ruble remains the only legal means of payment, and cryptocurrency will not be introduced into everyday payment circulation. The exchange of digital currency for rubles and other assets will occur through intermediaries included in the register of the Bank of Russia; this will allow for tracking suspicious transactions and combating money laundering.

       Unqualified investors will be able to purchase digital currency within an annual limit of no more than 300,000 rubles from one intermediary. This measure is intended to limit risks for citizens, as the digital currency market is characterized by high volatility. Additionally, the law allows for the use of digital currency in foreign trade settlements—a possibility that businesses have been requesting for a long time, especially under sanctions.
