On the evening of August 11, a private house on Svoboda Street, 16, in the village of Novye Chechkaby in the Buinsky district caught fire. The report of the fire came in at 23:28. Firefighters arrived 25 minutes later — the first floor of the two-story house was on fire.
Emergency Situations Ministry employees supplied water and created a team to work in the smoke-filled area. At 23:59, the fire was stopped over an area of 80 square meters, and it was completely extinguished by 00:18.
During the debris removal, the bodies of an 80-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were found. A 51-year-old man, a 45-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old boy were rescued by neighbors. All three were taken to the hospital with burns. According to investigators, the fire was set by the 51-year-old son of the deceased. Drunk, he doused the rooms with flammable liquid and ignited them. His parents died, and he, his wife, and their teenage son were injured. Investigators have opened a criminal case. All circumstances are being clarified.
