      In Kazan, the project for the restoration of a federal cultural heritage site located at 16/5 Musa Jalil Street has been approved. The house, which is planned to be restored to its appearance from the late 19th century, was the birthplace of revolutionary Nikolai Bauman and later home to Tatar playwright Karim Tinchurin. The building is expected to be restored to the form it took by the end of the 19th century. The project includes the restoration of preserved historical elements and the recreation of lost details. In particular, the entrance groups from the side of Musa Jalil Street, historical porches, the courtyard wing, and the wooden gallery that once connected parts of the building will be restored. Special attention will be paid to the facades. Specialists will clean the brickwork, eliminate traces of damage, replace late cement plaster with materials that correspond to the historical appearance of the building, and restore decorative elements. Moreover, the monument will not only be restored but also adapted for modern use. After the completion of the work, office spaces will be located in the building. Barrier-free access will be provided for visitors with limited mobility, and a mansard floor will be added in the attic space. Initially, the house was two stories and had a G-shaped form. In 1842, it was reconstructed according to the design of architect Fyodor Petondi, and a year later, a third floor was added to the corner part according to the design of Pyotr Pyatnitsky. In 1878, architect Alexander Bolotov added part of the third floor along the current Profsoyuznaya Street, and in 1880, a two-story volume appeared over the passage from the side of the present-day Musa Jalil Street. During the Soviet period, the building was nationalized, communal apartments were arranged inside, some window and door openings were altered, and engineering communications were installed. At the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, the house was vacated, and later it lost its roof, inter-floor ceilings, and wooden external gallery. According to the expert assessment, its current overall condition is rated as limited operational. Emergency works have already been completed.

      Experts concluded that the proposed solutions do not affect the subject of protection of the cultural heritage site and allow for the preservation of its historical value. The project has been recommended for approval by the Committee of Tatarstan for the protection of cultural heritage sites.
