      Russia's GDP in the second quarter of 2026, according to preliminary estimates, grew by 1.3% compared to the same period last year. This data is provided by Rosstat, as reported by TASS. Earlier, the agency estimated a GDP decline in the first quarter of 2026 by 0.2% year-on-year. In calculating the preliminary estimate, Rosstat used industry statistics. The largest contributions to GDP growth came from retail trade, which increased by 7.2%, public catering turnover – by 6.2%, freight turnover – by 2.5%, wholesale trade turnover – by 2.4%, and manufacturing – by 2%. At the same time, indicators in several sectors decreased. Passenger turnover fell by 2.3%, mineral extraction – by 1.9%, construction – by 1.6%, and agriculture – by 1.5%.

      Rosstat clarified that the preliminary GDP estimate for the second quarter of 2026 was conducted using the production method.
