      As of 2026, the Kazan metro remains the youngest system in the country: one line, 11 stations. Currently, the construction of the second line is underway.

      The first phase of the new line (four stations) is estimated at 47 billion rubles. This amount includes the stations themselves, the relocation of utilities (six billion rubles), and tunnel excavation. The average cost of one launch complex "station plus section" is about 11.75 billion rubles. Construction work at specific stations is cheaper. For example, the station "Tulpar" (over 95% readiness) will cost about 8-9 billion rubles, taking into account the monolithic work.

      The depth of the stations will be 18-20 meters, which allows for the use of standard shallow-burial designs and keeps the cost growth in check. After the "Tulpar" and "Zilant" stations, an extension is planned in the southern direction - to the Universiade Village and further to RKB, where turning loops and a new electric depot will be arranged. The opening of the first section of the second line is scheduled for 2027. Despite the sanctions, Kazan continues to move on schedule.

      Let us remind you that the opening of the section was previously expected in 2028. However, an additional 1.5 billion rubles have been allocated for construction.
