Internet crime in Tatarstan is on the decline.

      In Tatarstan, the level of internet crime is noticeably decreasing. In the first 7 months of 2026, 9,492 fraudulent crimes were registered in the republic — this is 43% less than in the same period last year. Compared to the first 7 months of 2024, the figure decreased by 10,000 cases, and relative to 2025 — by 6,000. This data was announced at a press conference at "Tatar-inform" by Almaz Fattakhov, the prosecutor of the department overseeing investigations in the internal affairs bodies of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan. At the same time, the crime clearance rate was 24%. Fraudsters are actively using new schemes: to withdraw stolen funds, they increasingly involve couriers from among Russian citizens. Recruitment is conducted through the dark web and closed Telegram channels — people are offered "easy earnings," disguising vacancies as the delivery of valuable cargo, logistics, or document circulation. A particular concern is the increase in the involvement of foreign students from neighboring countries in drop shipping. As noted by Rail Kuryakov, head of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, many incoming students do not realize the legal consequences of their actions and sell their bank cards for quick profit. To warn foreigners about the risks, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan has developed social leaflets in several languages. They are handed out to foreign citizens, and it is explained in detail what responsibility they face for participating in fraudulent schemes. Despite the positive dynamics, the situation remains tense: about 40 reports of fraud are received daily by territorial police departments. Law enforcement reminds: be vigilant and do not fall for offers of easy earnings, especially if they involve the transfer of bank cards, SIM cards, or the installation of unknown equipment.
