A street gallery of hometown heroes of the Great Patriotic War has opened in Nurlat.

      As part of the celebrations of the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan, Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day and City Day, this event became a real gift for the residents of Nurlat.

      The opening of the gallery is of great importance for preserving historical memory and the connection between generations. Dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, the gallery “Let Us Remember the Heroes by Name” is located on Shkolnaya Street. It consists of pillars—informational structures with biographies and descriptions of the feats of four Heroes of the Soviet Union, two full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory and one Hero of the Russian Federation from our district.

      The ceremonial opening of the outdoor gallery took place with the participation of honored guests. Those gathered at the commemorative event were greeted by the head of the Nurlat district, Damir Ishkineev, and the Deputy General Director—Director of the PJSC “Tatneft” department in Kazan, Damir Mukhametshin.

      “Today we open a commemorative gallery where our Nurlat heroes are immortalized. This project came to life thanks to Tatneft. The grant that the people of Nurlat won clearly shows how socially oriented the company is; this is patriotic education for our youth. There is a school on this street, the children’s creativity center ‘Kilechak,’ and young people passing by will read about and know their heroes who fought for our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War,” said Damir Azatovich.

      Damir Mukhametshin noted that such sites help preserve the memory of heroes and, by their example, raise the younger generation.

      “The opening of such a gallery for us means remaining humane. Because Tatneft has always been proud of its people, history, memory, and throughout the company’s 75 years we remember the names of our heroes—those who defended us in the Great Patriotic War, built peaceful life, fostered pride in our country, and of course now on the fields of the special military operation this is also defense of our Motherland; the guys there fight selflessly so that people here can live, continue to develop, study. This is memory: a person is alive when they are remembered, and they must not be forgotten,” said Damir Faridovich.

      After a minute of silence in memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, guests walked through the gallery and viewed the art objects more closely.

      Among the guests were the granddaughters and great-granddaughters of full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Minnikhan Masgutovich Masgutov, whose name took a worthy place in the gallery.

      “We only learned about this event when we were invited to the opening of the outdoor gallery; we were pleasantly surprised, emotions overwhelm us. We are very happy and proud of it. Our father was only 9 months old when his grandfather was taken to the war. And he died a few days before the Victory, having been blown up on the last mine while they were demining a train. There are many of us—his descendants; we all keep his memory, and every year on May 9 we gather together by the monument to the liberating soldier in his honor,” said granddaughter Munavara Masgutova.

      The importance of this project lies in that it turns history from abstract facts into tangible reality, giving young people vivid examples of true heroism and self-sacrifice. The implementation of the outdoor gallery became possible thanks to the victory of the project “Let Us Remember the Heroes by Name” in Tatneft’s grant competition “Energy of Good.” The project was developed by the Nurlat territorial branch of the republican public movement “Tatarstan – Yaña Ğasır” — “Tatarstan – New Century” and the ANO “Family Club ‘NURly gailya’ (‘Radiant Family’).” The author of the project is Dina Khuzzyatova, director of the KDC “Grani” and the ANO “Family Club ‘NURly gailya’ (‘Radiant Family’).”

      The outdoor gallery is an expression of deep gratitude to all participants of the Great Patriotic War and serves as an eternal reminder of the price our fellow countrymen paid for the peaceful sky above our heads.
