      The main risk when driving while tired is increased reaction time. This was told to "Tatar-inform" by auto expert and member of the working group under the Government of the Russian Federation on legislation in the field of road safety, Dmitry Popov.

      "The main risk is that the driver's reaction time increases and, accordingly, the braking distance increases. You also risk falling asleep at the wheel altogether," the agency's interlocutor said.

      He noted that loud music or a stream of cold air will not help a person wake up.

      "Many recommend opening the window, turning on music, etc., to fight falling asleep at the wheel, but such methods will invigorate you only in the short term, and then this will lead to even greater fatigue of the head, and a person can even fall asleep to music," the auto expert warned.

      Popov emphasized that the best way to overcome drowsiness is to sleep.

      "At the same time, you need to sleep properly, that is, sleep for about 1.5 hours, since human biorhythms last about 1.5 hours. Scientists have proven that a person who has slept for 3 hours feels more rested than one who has slept for 4 hours," the speaker summarized.
