How to get through the cold season without compromising your health
With the onset of cold weather and temperature fluctuations, our immune system experiences a significant strain. In autumn and winter viral infections most often flare up, including acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), influenza and common colds. To reduce the risk of getting sick, it is important to follow several simple but scientifically proven rules:
Sleep and routine – getting a full 7–8 hours of sleep helps the immune system produce protective cells.
Diet – add foods rich in vitamin C (citrus fruits, sauerkraut, berries), vitamin D (fish, eggs, mushrooms), and zinc (nuts, seeds, legumes) to your diet.
Hygiene – regular handwashing and airing rooms reduce the risk of infection.
Physical activity – moderate workouts in the fresh air strengthen the respiratory system.
Dress for the weather – chilling reduces the local immunity of mucous membranes, opening the doors to viruses.
Influenza vaccination – a proven way to reduce the risk of severe complications.
If the temperature is above 38°C, there is severe weakness or shortness of breath — do not self-medicate; seek medical help.
