      Based on the results of 2024, Tatarstan shows one of the lowest poverty rates in Russia. This level in the republic is only 3.8%, which is more than twice as low as the national average.

      In the national ranking the region occupies an honorable third place, trailing only the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and St. Petersburg. These data were published in a decree that introduces changes to Tatarstan’s state program "Social Support for Citizens."

      One of the key mechanisms for combating poverty in the republic is the social contract. This agreement between social protection authorities and citizens provides for mutual obligations aimed at combining the efforts of the citizen and the state. The main goal of the social contract is to increase citizens' incomes through employment. Last year 5.9 thousand such contracts were signed.

      The positive trend of falling poverty rates in Tatarstan has been observed for several years. For example, in 2023 this indicator was 4.6%, which was also one of the lowest in the country.

      Earlier it became known that the poverty rate in Tatarstan reached a historic low. By this indicator the republic surpasses Moscow.
