A nutritionist warned about the harm of late-night eating.
The habit of eating to fullness at night, especially high-calorie and fatty dishes, negatively affects health by disrupting natural biorhythms, nutritionist Olga Panova said in an interview with Radio 1. According to the expert, consuming heavy and fatty food before sleep disrupts the body's natural operating rhythm, because instead of resting and recovering it has to spend energy on digestion. The nutritionist advises having dinner 2–3 hours before going to bed. Even healthy cottage cheese, rich in protein, has a certain caloric content and can contribute to weight gain. "If you constantly eat cottage cheese for dinner, it can have a negative effect on the body, because it also has quite a high caloric content. If you do not have an intolerance to egg protein, it's better to eat eggs in the amount that will satisfy you. They are easily and quickly digested, and you won't be hungry," the expert advised.
She added that you can also drink warm milk with half a banana a couple of hours before sleep — this will relax the muscles and supply the body with potassium and magnesium.
