On the morning of September 6, tram No. 4, coming from the direction of Fuchik Street, caught fire at the intersection of Gabishev and Richard Sorge streets. There were 10 passengers on board. When sparks and smoke appeared, they were immediately evacuated. No one was injured.
Crews from the State Traffic Inspectorate, the patrol-and-post service and fire units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations promptly arrived at the scene. Traffic on Sorge Street was temporarily restricted.
The fire and smoke were eliminated by 6:16, and the tram was evacuated to the depot by 6:57 using special equipment. Traffic on the section has been fully restored. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, reports the Kazan State Traffic Inspectorate.
