A "Marmot Colony" has appeared in Tatarstan.

      A state natural reserve of biological (zoological) regional significance, “Marmot Colony,” has been established in the Aznakayevsky District. The corresponding decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aleksey Pesoshin.

      A specially protected natural area of regional significance covering 563.6 hectares was created in order to preserve the historical marmot colonies and the natural landscape, as well as plants and animals listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      On this territory amateur and sport hunting of marmots is prohibited, as well as carrying out other activities aimed at preserving their habitat. We remind you that for violating the special regime of specially protected natural areas, administrative and criminal liability is established under the legislation of the Russian Federation.
