"Warmth of the Soul" for those who are always in my heart
On the first day of October the whole country celebrates the Day of Older Persons — a pure and bright holiday, a celebration of our parents, grandmothers and grandfathers.
This is not just an official date on the calendar, but a special moment when all the kindest words and thoughts are directed to people who have gone through a long and dignified life path. This day reminds not only society as a whole but each of us that there are people nearby who are waiting for our care, attention and simple human warmth.
Under this very motto — "Warmth of the Soul" — on the eve of the holiday, September 29, a heartfelt congratulatory event took place. The organizers were Elvira Arkhipova, librarian of City Library Branch No. 7, together with the chairwomen of the local community councils "Mirny", Gulbanu Galyaminskaya, and "Buguldinka", Maria Garapshina. Active participants were students of School No. 5, who gladly responded to the opportunity to say "thank you" to the older generation.
Volunteers of goodwill visited at home elderly people whose lives are a living history of our country. Words of deep gratitude and sincere wishes were addressed to:
• Home-front veterans Magfuga Shavaleevna Ibneeva and Maria Trofimovna Shvedchikova, whose selfless labor during the war helped forge the Great Victory.
• Labor veterans Raif Zufarov, Zaynab Muzafarovna Latypova and Minfania Mingazitdinovna Garapshina, who devoted decades of their lives to the development and prosperity of their native land.
• The family of the soldier killed in the special military operation, Bayrashev — Lyubov Nikolaevna and Nikolai Ilyich — who bear the heavy burden of loss and deserve our endless respect and support.
Participants of the event spoke warm words of gratitude for conscientious work, for priceless life experience, for the kindness and wisdom that the older generation passes on to the young. Grandmothers and grandfathers, with tears in their eyes but joy in their hearts, received the congratulations. Each was presented with a modest gift carrying the most important wishes — health, well‑being and longevity.
Such events are not one‑off occurrences but an important lesson in humanity. By paying attention to the older generation, we set the most important example of respect and compassion for our children and teenagers. It is well known that every person, especially in old age, needs attention. And how pleasant it is to realize that this attention exists, and that young people walk the streets of our city bringing to their grandmothers and grandfathers the most precious thing — the warmth of their souls.

A rafforzare questa idea c’è un servizio giornalistico degli anni ’50, mostrato nel film, che mostra uomini Marshallesi — descritti da un giornalista dell’epoca come “selvaggi” — sottoposti a test per le conseguenze delle radiazioni nucleari.
Il film, proiettato venerdì all’El Paso Film Festival, ritrae molti Marshallesi ora residenti nel centro del paese che ha bombardato e contaminato il loro territorio.
Il documentario mostra alcuni locali di Enid che aprono le braccia, appoggiano i Marshallesi, celebrano la loro cultura e cercano di rimediare a torti storici. Altri esprimono la paura che questi stranieri vogliano solo ottenere assegni dal governo degli Stati Uniti, apparentemente inconsapevoli che il governo statunitense delle generazioni passate è, di fatto, la fonte dei loro guai.

Queste cose terribili sono successe loro, ma non camminano in giro come un popolo tragico — sono vibranti e adorabili,” ha detto lo co-produttore del film con base a El Paso, Zach Passero, in una sessione di domande e risposte dopo la proiezione di venerdì.

Corral, i co-registi di 67 Bombs to Enid, Kevin Ford e Ty McMahan, hanno spiegato di aver realizzato il film con quasi nessun budget perché pensavano fosse una storia importante da raccontare. Il documentarista Errol Morris ha accettato e si è unito come produttore esecutivo nella speranza che ciò aiutasse a diffondere la notizia.
Sta funzionando: le Nazioni Unite si erano messe in contatto per proiettare 67 Bombs to Enid, che ora è in tournée nei festival con l’obiettivo di ottenere la più ampia distribuzione possibile. Sperano che il film induca il pubblico a prendere più sul serio la minaccia delle armi nucleari in tutto il mondo.
“Le armi nucleari sono ogni giorno sulle prime pagine ora. E così la missione è diventata un po’ più grande — cercare davvero di fare luce sulle armi nucleari e sui pericoli,” ha detto McMahan, ex reporter del Wall Street Journal i cui film precedenti includono i documentari The Mundo King, The Toy Cart e The 34 Project.
“Anche se non le usiamo in guerra — solo noi, come paesi che possediamo armi nucleari — anche la detonazione accidentale di una sola potrebbe spazzare via intere regioni e creare migliaia di anni di malattie da radiazioni e avvelenamento,” ha aggiunto Ford, i cui film precedenti includono il documentario The Pushback, prodotto da Richard Linklater.
