      Tatarstan and Belarus could reach an annual trade turnover of $2 billion in the long term, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said. His words are cited by the Telegram channel of the Belneftekhim concern.

      He noted that, despite some recent lag in increasing mutual trade turnover, there is now a positive dynamic and new areas of cooperation are being developed. According to him, it is currently possible to achieve a turnover of $1 billion, and later increase it to $2 billion.

      Karankevich's statement was made at a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan in Minsk, which he chaired together with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko. The meeting discussed the results of joint work for 2024 and the first half of 2025, as well as issues of deepening industrial cooperation, including petrochemicals.

      Karankevich emphasized that cooperation in the industrial sphere is the basis of bilateral trade and economic relations, and announced the signing of agreements on new joint projects.

      Korobchenko noted that the potential for interaction is large and that cooperation expands every year, and the partnership "road map" is being supplemented with new growth points.

      The parties discussed further mutual supplies of goods, the creation of joint ventures, as well as the development of cooperation between science and education institutions aimed at the technological modernization of industry.

      Within the framework of the meeting, the chairman of the Belneftekhim concern, Ilya Ikan, and Korobchenko signed a protocol of joint work on the interaction of enterprises and organizations of the petrochemical complexes of Belarus and Tatarstan.
