In Naberezhnye Chelny, a court ordered the administrative arrest of a local resident — a native of Kharkiv — who published a comment in support of Ukraine on a Telegram channel. The man pleaded guilty and said he had deleted the post, but the court imposed a punishment of seven days' arrest.
The incident occurred on September 27, 2024, when the defendant posted a prohibited comment in an open community. During the court hearing, held via videoconference, the man expressed remorse and asked to be given a fine instead. However, the court considered the violation serious enough to apply a harsher measure.
The court ruling has not yet come into legal force. This was reported by the press service of the Naberezhnye Chelny court.
