On the grounds of an old apple orchard in the village of Aksarino there now stands an alley of 40 blue spruces. This initiative, organized at the initiative and with the funds of the villagers themselves, became a living memorial to the fallen heroes — from veterans of the Great Patriotic War to modern warriors. It is symbolic that the young spruces took their place in a garden with a rich history. This apple orchard in the village of Aksarino was laid out by villagers in 1955 in honor of the first anniversary of Victory. Decades later their descendants continued this glorious tradition, planting a new alley for the 80th anniversary of Victory and in memory of fellow villagers who died in the SVO zone. The idea of the whole village creating such a monument met with the most heartfelt response. The villagers organized a fundraising drive, bought the seedlings themselves and went out together to plant. Together, young and old, they created not just a small park but a place of quiet remembrance and pride. “We planted these trees with the thought that as long as memory lives, so do the heroes,” say the participants in the initiative. The apple orchard planted by our ancestors in honor of Victory, and the spruces in memory of our modern heroes — it’s one story for all of us. Now it will live here in the evergreen branches.
