The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan helped a pensioner in a difficult dispute with an unscrupulous real estate seller.

      A pensioner from Tatarstan was able to recover more than one million rubles for a house she had bought in an improper condition thanks to the free legal assistance provided by the Ministry of Justice of the republic. This was reported to Tatar-inform by the ministry’s press service.

      The elderly woman turned to Darya Bekmansurova, head of the sector for interaction with republican executive authorities on insolvency (bankruptcy) issues at the Ministry of Justice of Tatarstan, with a problem that had remained unresolved for two years: the pensioner had purchased a plot of land with a house that turned out to be unfit for habitation. When she tried to rescind the purchase agreement, the seller refused to cooperate and later initiated his own bankruptcy proceedings.

      The case went through several judicial instances. After refusals by the court of first instance and the appellate court, the case was sent for a new hearing. At the repeated hearing by the court of first instance, there was also a refusal, which required preparation for a new appellate appeal.

      “While analyzing the numerous documents provided by the pensioner, we found a key element for her defense — an expert report confirming the unacceptable technical condition of the acquired building. I recommended that she petition the court to draw attention to the presence of this essential document in the case file so that the court would take this into account and note the unscrupulous nature of the transaction from the outset,” explained Darya Bekmansurova.

      During these proceedings it emerged that the disputed property had been put up for auction as part of the seller’s bankruptcy procedure. As a result of competent legal support, the court ruled in favor of the pensioner, and the woman received the full purchase amount — over one million rubles. With Darya Igorevna’s assistance, the pensioner has now filed a claim for reimbursement of legal costs.

      “This case demonstrates how important qualified legal assistance is, especially for socially vulnerable categories of citizens. Stories like this prove that even in difficult situations a lawful solution can be found and justice can be restored,” emphasized Darya Bekmansurova.
