The Russian government has imposed sanctions on Renault.
The French automotive corporation Renault SAS has been included in the list of legal entities engaged in military-technical cooperation against which special economic measures are being applied by Russia. The corresponding government decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin. The document was posted on the portal for the official publication of legal acts. It states that the group will be listed under number 75. Federal, regional and municipal organizations, as well as Russian individuals and legal entities, are now prohibited from carrying out any transactions with the corporation and its subsidiaries, TASS notes. Renault left Russia in 2022 after the start of the special military operation; all its assets in the country were transferred to state ownership. The shares of the “Renault Russia” plant were transferred to the city of Moscow, and the stake in AvtoVAZ went to NAMI, an institute subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, the corporation was to retain an option to repurchase the stake in AvtoVAZ for six years.
