      In Kazan’s Kirovsky district on Gladilov Street, demolition of the old buildings of the former merchant Alafuzov’s factory has begun. They plan to build a five-story residential complex there. The factory, founded in 1865, was a popular art space, but in 2021 the site was put up for sale for 650 million rubles.

      Alafuzov’s factory, originally a flax-spinning mill, became a wool-processing enterprise and then was abandoned. In 2013 entrepreneur Andrey Pitulov bought the site and turned it into a popular art space. Exhibitions, festivals, parties and photo shoots were held here.

      In 2023 the factory was bought by the company "Briz". Now on the site there will be a children’s center, showrooms, cafés, a boutique hotel, luxury apartments, an office center and a park. The demolition of the old buildings began in 2025. The loft space continues to operate until 2026, but parties and cultural events are no longer held.

      Two historic factory buildings — the Kotelov house (a federally protected monument) and the dyeing-and-finishing factory — will be restored first.

      Recall, in Tatarstan two medical institutions will be modernized for 105 million rubles. 105.7 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes.
