A Rosgvardiya serviceman from Kazan placed a time capsule in Nizhny Novgorod on the agency's 45th anniversary.

      Celebrations were held in Nizhny Novgorod on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Privolzhsky Order of Zhukov District of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya).

      Service members were congratulated by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov; the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin; the head of the city of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev; Russian Senator Alexander Vainberg; the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Dmitry Krasnov; and other government officials as well as heads of agencies. This was reported by the plenipotentiary’s press service.

      Among the honored guests were veterans, including commanders who at various times led the operational-territorial formation: Lieutenant General Mikhail Zmeev and Colonel-Generals Yevgeny Zubarev and Alexander Poryadin.

      “Today, in a difficult time for our Motherland, the soldiers and commanders of the Privolzhsky Order of Zhukov District of the Rosgvardiya are on the front line — where Russia’s future is being decided. In the context of the special military operation they valiantly fight for truth, for our freedom and sovereignty. We will always remember the true warriors, patriots of Russia, who fell in the righteous struggle for the Fatherland, for our future,” said Igor Komarov.

      Speakers noted the important role of Rosgvardiya fighters in ensuring the country’s security. For their merits, service members were awarded state decorations, including the St. George’s Cross and Medals “For Courage.”

      There was also a ceremony to place a time capsule with a message for future generations. The honor of placing the capsule in a vault to be sealed for 20 years was given to an officer of the Kazan special-purpose detachment, Hero of Russia Major Andrey Filonenko. On the same day a commemorative stone was laid at the foundation of a chapel in honor of Prince Vladimir.

      The Privolzhsky Order of Zhukov District of the National Guard covers much of central Russia and includes 14 regions. The district is proud of its 17 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 15 Heroes of the Russian Federation, who have selflessly carried out and continue to carry out difficult service-combat missions.
