Tatarstan set a new record in the agricultural sector: the republic’s farmers harvested an impressive crop of cereals exceeding 4.6 million tonnes. Achieving such results was made possible by a high yield of 37.9 centners per hectare and the efficient work of the region’s agricultural sector.
The cereal harvest in Tatarstan exceeded 4.6 million tonnes with an average yield of 37.9 centners per hectare. These figures were announced by Marat Zyabbarov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, at a briefing in the House of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The results of the harvest campaign show that 4,692,000 tonnes of cereals were delivered to the republic’s granaries. There are 1.8 million tonnes of the harvest at grain elevators. After completion of corn harvesting, the total in bunker weight will reach 4.9 million tonnes. According to specialists’ forecasts, after processing the crops the final figure will be 4.5–4.6 million tonnes in net weight.
Domestic grain consumption in the republic has been recalculated and amounts to about 2.5 million tonnes (previously — 3.2 million tonnes). Of this volume, 1.6 million tonnes are required for the needs of animal husbandry, alcohol and flour production.
Sown area under cereal crops this year amounted to more than 1.2 million hectares, which is sufficient to meet the region’s internal needs. At the same time, compared with last year, sown areas decreased by almost 90 thousand hectares.
Tatarstan’s agricultural sector demonstrates stable performance, providing not only for the region’s internal needs but also creating significant export potential.
