For four days, a thousand young people from across the country will exchange knowledge, regional traditions and experience. Alina Almakayeva met with the active and driven.
Everything begins with a flag, a song and a firm handshake. Kazan welcomes the XV Gathering of Student Brigades of the Volga Federal District — a thousand young people for whom the word “work” is spoken with pride.
Over five years the student brigades movement in the VFD has nearly doubled: in 2021 — 23,000 people; in 2025 — already more than 48,000. Educational, construction, service, medical and train-attendant brigades — each of them is part of a large labor story.
Just last year more than 10,000 students underwent vocational training in skilled trades. They acquired real skills and earned their first pay.
The results are impressive: dozens of victories in labor projects, hundreds of grants, thousands of hours of community service. The Volga Federal District headquarters has been among the best in Russia for the fifth year running. In 2024 alone, grant support for the movement grew by more than 160 percent.
There were also 36 major district events, more than 19,000 participants and hundreds of partners who believe in youth.
Tatarstan has been the leader for two years running in the ranking of regional branches of the Russian Student Brigades (RSO). And it is here that, for the fifth year in a row, the district Spartakiad — recognized as the best in the country — is held.
The Gathering is not only a review of results, but also a conversation about the future: about how to bring the movement even closer to every student, how to develop soft skills, social project planning and team leadership.
