      Law enforcement detained the suspect in the attack on 34-year-old Irina Shevyreva. He turned out to be a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries. Along with him his compatriot-accomplice was also caught.

      Recall, on October 14 the wife of well-known Kazan businessman Ivan Shevyrev brought her daughter to the gymnasium on Vosstaniya Street. As soon as she had seen the child inside and was about to get into her car, an unknown man in a motorcycle helmet attacked her. He inflicted a series of knife blows to the woman’s neck, knocked her to the ground, struck her several more times and fled on an electric bicycle. The victim managed to survive; she was taken to hospital in serious condition and is in a coma. A criminal case was opened on the charge of attempted murder.

      It is already known that the attacker, together with an accomplice, had been following their victim long before the crime. The investigation considered various versions, including those related to the professional activities of Shevyreva’s husband. After the suspects were detained information emerged that the attack on the woman could have occurred due to family quarrels, reports Vechernyaya Kazan citing its sources.
