Kazan Airport was the first in Russia to install automatic fire suppression systems.

      Automatic fire suppression systems were installed on vehicles and airfield equipment at Kazan Airport. Tatarstan became the first region in Russia to implement such technologies, the airport's press service reports.

      "Automatic fire suppression systems are capable of detecting the start of a fire and activating the suppression system in a matter of seconds. They also reduce dependence on the human factor — a person can be subject to stress or make mistakes in emergency situations," the statement says.

      The automatic fire suppression systems installed on airfield equipment use a combined extinguishing method — aerosol-liquid. This is safer for nearby aircraft engines than alternative suppression methods.
