In the Republic of Tatarstan, a local resident is accused of violating traffic rules that resulted in the deaths of two minors.

      The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan have completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 42-year-old resident of Kazan, who is accused of committing an offense under part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules resulting through negligence in the infliction of grievous bodily harm to a person and the death of two persons).

      According to the investigation, on the evening of August 10, 2025, the accused, while in a fatigued state behind the wheel of a passenger car and traveling at a speed that did not allow him to maintain continuous control of the vehicle, on the Kazan–Buinsk–Ulyanovsk highway collided with a vehicle moving in the opposite direction, which as a result of the impact was thrown into another vehicle. As a result of the road traffic accident, two young children died, and two other people sustained injuries that caused grievous bodily harm.

      The investigation has collected a sufficient evidentiary base, and therefore the criminal case, with an approved indictment, has been forwarded to the court for consideration on the merits.
