One of the suspects in the Louvre robbery has been detained at a Paris airport.
One suspect in the Louvre robbery case has been detained at Paris’s Roissy–Charles de Gaulle airport, Franceinfo reports. Four suspects are being sought in total.
On the morning of October 19, two criminals broke into the Louvre and stole nine unique items from the collections of Napoleon and Joséphine, while two other accomplices waited for them outside. The Paris prosecutor’s office suggests that the crime may have been carried out on commission or with the aim of money laundering.
According to The Telegraph, a museum security employee contacted the robbers before the theft. It is believed that confidential information about the Louvre’s security system was passed to the gang prior to the raid.
There is no official information about the arrest yet.
