      Fraudsters have begun using complex multi-component schemes in which, under the pretext of a "delivery" and on behalf of a marketplace employee, they hack citizens' accounts on the Gosuslugi portal and steal money. This was reported to TASS by the press center of the Russian Interior Ministry. Perpetrators place a call, posing as a marketplace employee, and report an alleged delivery. To "receive" it they ask for the code from an SMS message. Samuel Angor on Unsplash After obtaining the code, the scammers use it to hack the victim's account on Gosuslugi. Then, to increase pressure, they tell the victim about the hack, about loans taken out in their name and even about financing the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). Under this pretext the fraudsters persuade the victim to withdraw cash from bank accounts and hand it over to "special services employees." The Interior Ministry urges citizens to be extremely vigilant, not to disclose any SMS codes to third parties and not to trust calls related to suspicious "deliveries" or threats of account hacks.

      On the previous day Sber warned of a new wave of fraudulent calls targeting young conscription-age people and relatives of those killed in the special military operation, allegedly from military enlistment office representatives.
