"Vodokanal": With current funding, it will take 25 years to reconstruct the networks in Kazan

      1.9 billion rubles were allocated in 2025 for the reconstruction of emergency municipal utility networks in Kazan. Of this amount, 1.5 billion rubles will be directed to sewage network repairs, and 480 million to water supply. This was reported by the director of MUP "Vodokanal," Rustam Abdulkhakov, at a business Monday meeting.

      He recalled that about 70% of the networks are currently in unsatisfactory condition.

      "We apply to all financing programs for municipal infrastructure projects, but restoring our networks and facilities requires substantial budget investments. If only 2 billion rubles are allocated annually, reconstruction will take 25 years. And the amount of our networks increases every year," Abdulkhakov said.

      According to him, over the past five years the networks have increased by another 10%. In 2026, 1.7 billion rubles are planned to be allocated for the repair of emergency sections of collectors with a total length of 4 km.
