Doctors at the RKB removed a bullet from a man's neck.

      A bullet was removed from a patient’s neck at the Republican Clinical Hospital, the hospital’s press service reported.

      A 25-year-old resident of the Zelenodolsky district accidentally shot himself in the neck while handling an air rifle carelessly. According to him, he was disassembling the weapon and did not notice the mechanism firing. The injured man was taken to the Zelenodolsk Central Regional Hospital and then transferred to the Republican Clinical Hospital.

      The man had difficulty swallowing and speaking. Fortunately, the arteries, trachea and esophagus were not injured — the bullet passed through the neck and lodged in the spine. Head of Neurosurgery No. 2 Georgy Maikov and head of the ENT department Marat Gilyalov carefully removed the bullet and sutured the wound.

      The patient is currently recovering under the supervision of his attending physician.
