The Days of Culture of the North Kazakhstan Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan are being held in Kazan.

      Today, October 30, the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the culture of Kazakhstan took place in the Exhibition Halls of the Prisutstvennye Mesta of the Kazan Kremlin. The exhibition consists of two parts — the art-archaeological exhibition “Botai – Culture of the Great Steppe” and an archival-documentary project dedicated to the outstanding Kazakh poet and educator Magzhan Bekenovich Zhumabay. The “Botai – Culture of the Great Steppe” exposition displays 46 creative and plein-air works, as well as original archaeological artifacts: tools, ceramic items, objects of spiritual significance, a model of a double dwelling, reconstructions of ancient production sites and works by masters of decorative and applied arts related to the traditions of equestrian culture. The exhibition reveals the image and spirit of the Botai culture — a phenomenon that became the source of steppe civilization and shaped its development for millennia to come. The archaeological site “Botai Settlement,” located in the North Kazakhstan Region, is recognized as a cultural brand of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The second part of the project is an archival-documentary exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Magzhan Bekenovich Zhumabay (1893–1938) — an outstanding poet, educator and enlightener, one of the founders of modern Kazakh literature. The exposition includes biographical materials, archival documents, early 20th-century editions, rare photographs and publications related to the poet’s activities in Ufa, Omsk, Tashkent, Moscow, Kazan and Petropavlovsk. “Cultural ties between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan have been formed over centuries; our peoples have always lived in harmony, we share a common history, common roots and a common culture. Now a major stage of our cultural interaction is beginning. Yesterday a Memorandum of Cooperation between our regions was signed [note: Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republic of Tatarstan and the North Kazakhstan Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan]. And I believe that our cooperation will only grow stronger,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Culture Lenar Khakimzyanov. Head of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archival Affairs of the North Kazakhstan Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dosbol Abdriissov greeted guests in Kazakh. “Magzhan Zhumabay is a universally recognized Turkic phenomenon that also demonstrates the historical interconnection between two brotherly peoples — the republics of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan. It is worth noting that Magzhan Zhumabay published his first collection of poems in Kazan. Speaking about the archaeological site of Botai, I would like to note that it existed in the 4th millennium BC. And it was here that horse domestication began, on the territory of the North Kazakhstan Region,” he said. “Our colleagues began in Kazakh, and overall we understood everything. This says a lot about the commonality that exists between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan. It is becoming a good tradition that we are opening the second Kazakh project within the walls of the Kremlin. Last year it was a project of the East Kazakhstan Region,” noted Ilnur Rakhimov, director of the State Museum-Reserve “Kazan Kremlin.” The exhibition cycle in the Kazan Kremlin symbolizes a cultural dialogue between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan, combining archaeology, literature and contemporary art. It is intended to highlight the continuity of spiritual and cultural traditions of the peoples of the Great Steppe and their contribution to the development of Turkic civilization. The visit of the delegation from Kazakhstan takes place within the framework of the Days of Culture of the North Kazakhstan Region in the Republic of Tatarstan, which will be held October 30–31.
