Welders in Russia have received their official professional Day. The Government of the Russian Federation granted official status to one of the most respected holidays in the industrial community — Welder's Day. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, thereby fixing the celebratory date in the state calendar.
This decision legalizes a long-standing tradition: since the 1990s representatives of this heroic profession have unofficially celebrated their day on the last Friday of May. Now this date receives state recognition. As noted in the Cabinet of Ministers, the initiative came directly from the professional community — the National Welding Control Agency and the Association of Industrial Enterprises of St. Petersburg.
When choosing the date, the government listened to the established tradition. Mikhail Mishustin instructed that the holiday be fixed on the last Friday of May, since it has long been established among specialists.
Organizational issues related to the implementation of this decision have been assigned to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. By December 1, 2025, the ministry must formalize the establishment of the holiday with the corresponding regulatory legal act.
