Bugulma native Oleg Povarnitsyn volunteered for the special military operation and was killed while carrying out combat missions.
Oleg Alexandrovich was born in Bugulma on February 6, 1978. Later he lived with his parents and sisters in the village of Staroye Sumarokovo, 25 km from Bugulma. He studied at the Sokol secondary school.

As a young man he was always distinguished by his hard work and tried to help his parents with the household. He was not frightened by chores or physical labor, and he delighted his mother and father with his responsiveness. He loved his small homeland and knew interesting historical facts about his native places. Caring for horses brought special joy to the active young man. Oleg liked to look after these graceful creatures, which, in his opinion, were not only beautiful but also very intelligent. He even found a way with young unruly animals.

During his life Oleg Alexandrovich mastered many professions. However, his true calling became mechanics. The man not only loved machinery but also understood it well, which allowed him to find and fix various causes of breakdowns as quickly as possible. This quality was highly valued by colleagues and management throughout his career.

In the team the man from Bugulma always enjoyed great respect. Oleg Povarnitsyn was well-read in various fields of knowledge, which helped him in communication with people. Smiling and responsive, he easily found a common language with those around him; the absence of “sharp edges” in his character contributed to creating and maintaining harmony in the working atmosphere. Colleagues were confident that they could count on his help and support in difficult situations. At work he was attentive and persistent, and when it came to a difficult case — even stubborn; he tried to see any task through to the end and to perform everything correctly and neatly. Oleg Alexandrovich became not only a professional but also a kind friend to many, which made his work even more meaningful.

      A father's pride — his sons

In 1996 Oleg Povarnitsyn started a family with Yulia Ivanovna; they had two sons, Vladislav and Alexey. Two grandsons of Oleg Alexandrovich, David and Miron, are already growing up. In his second marriage with his wife Ekaterina a son, Mikhail, was born. Oleg Alexandrovich was proud of his children and grandchildren. He considered them his main support, a great joy and the meaning of his life.

“My father was a merry joker. He loved to joke a lot, knew many anecdotes,” shared memories his son Vladislav Povarnitsyn. “He made friends and got along with people quickly and easily. At work he was serious and pedantic. If he took on some job, he always completed it, and he worried a lot if something didn’t work out. A huge number of people communicated with him. He was known everywhere. He was a very sociable person; you could talk to him about any topic. If he wanted to defend his opinion, his point of view, father would argue endlessly. He also loved listening to music very much.”

His loved ones remember with great warmth Oleg Alexandrovich’s good jokes and sincere laughter. He looked at the world positively and encouraged others, finding a way out even in difficult situations.

      His path

In November 2023 Oleg Povarnitsyn contacted the Bugulma military commissariat to take part in the special military operation as a volunteer. Since childhood he remembered the feats of his grandfathers, who had served throughout the Great Patriotic War and returned home with awards. His parents, Aleksandr Alexandrovich and Lidiya Alekseevna, instilled in their son patriotism and loyalty to the Motherland. Oleg Povarnitsyn could not remain on the sidelines when his native country needed support. He made a conscious and important decision and firmly defended his choice before his family.

The man from Bugulma served Russia with dignity in the territory where the special military operation was conducted. Private Povarnitsyn finished his combat path as a rifleman of a motorized rifle battalion’s motorized rifle company while carrying out a combat mission in the city of Avdiivka, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk People’s Republic. On February 28, 2024, faithful to his military oath and showing fortitude and courage while performing assigned tasks, serviceman Povarnitsyn Oleg was killed.

On August 29, 2024, on the eve of Republic Day, high state awards were presented at the Bugulma military commissariat to the families of heroes who were killed during the special military operation. The event was attended by the deputy head of the Bugulma district, Fanis Mukhametov, and the Bugulma military commissar Rafael Minnetdinov. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, for courage, bravery and selflessness shown in the performance of military duty, Private Povarnitsyn Oleg Alexandrovich was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. The award was presented to his mother, Lidiya Alekseevna.

As part of the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland on December 10, 2024, the volunteer squad “Dobrotvortsy” from the Sokol boarding school for children with disabilities went to the village of Sumarokovo to visit the mothers of fallen soldiers to express support and gratitude for their courage and sacrifices. The youngsters met with Lidiya Alekseevna and learned the life story of her son Oleg Povarnitsyn. The volunteers sincerely wanted to show that they remember and honor the heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland. Such meetings help create an atmosphere of unity and support and emphasize the importance of remembering those who defended our country.
