"No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten": a memorial stele to local soldiers was unveiled in Butaikha.
In the quiet, forest-encircled village of Butaikha, bathed in greenery, a special, solemn and moving atmosphere prevailed today.

Here, in the very heart of the village, where life usually flows slowly and unhurriedly, an event residents had been eagerly awaiting took place: the unveiling of a commemorative stele in honor of fellow countrymen who participated in the Great Patriotic War. On the granite slab are dozens of names — those who left for the front from Butaikha and did not return, laying down their lives on the battlefields, and those who survived the hell of war, returned home but, unfortunately, later died in peacetime. Now their names are forever inscribed in the history of their small homeland.

At the ceremony dedicated to this significant event gathered everyone who cherishes the memory of their ancestors’ deeds. Taking part in the solemn ceremony were deputy head of the district Ivan Zakharov, head of the Mamyakovskoye rural settlement Valeriy Ryzhkov, representatives of the military enlistment office Vladimir Korenkov and of the local branch of the organization “Combat Brotherhood,” Vladislav Kuzmin.

Speaking to those assembled, Ivan Zakharov emphasized: “Today we pay our debt of memory and gratitude to our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers. This stele is not just a stone, it is a bridge between generations. It is important that our children and grandchildren, looking at these names, know at what cost the peaceful sky above our heads was won.”

Valeriy Ryzhkov, in his speech, thanked everyone who took part in the improvement of the square and the installation of the monument: “This monument is a people’s undertaking. Thank you to everyone who contributed. For Butaikha this is more than a monument; it is our shared pain and our shared pride.”

For the villagers, the unveiling of the stele became a deeply personal, family event. Among those gathered was Valentina Suslova, whose father, like many other villagers, fought for the Motherland.

“I cannot express what I feel today,” shared Valentina Nikolaevna, wiping away tears. “My father passed away many years ago, but we always remembered his feat. Now his name is here, carved in stone, and that means all of Butaikha will remember him. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Now we have a sacred place where one can come, pay respects and say thank you not only to one’s own father, but to all fellow villagers who gave us life and peace.”

Her words were echoed by other local residents. Elderly people remembered their relatives, young parents quietly explained to their children what each letter on the cold granite meant. The air was filled with genuine, heartfelt gratitude.
