The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, supported a proposal to declare 2026 the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. This was reported by TASS. The idea was voiced by one of the participants of the Council for Interethnic Relations. “So we will do that,” the head of state responded and instructed Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova to prepare drafts of the corresponding decisions. Earlier the President of Russia signed a decree establishing the Day of the Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation. According to the decree, the holiday will be celebrated annually on September 8. In addition, Russia established the Day of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples, which will be observed on April 30.
