      Increasing the number of vacation days by excluding weekends from the calculation could lead to a heavier burden on the budget. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, Yaroslav Nilov, his words quoted by NEWS.ru.

      He noted that despite possible financial consequences, the Russian government may still support the initiative.

      According to the deputy, additional days off require significant expenditures from federal and regional budgets, as well as from employers. He specified that if the initiative is introduced in the State Duma it will be considered, and its prospects depend on the position of the Cabinet and the social partners of the tripartite commission.

      Nilov recalled that rest plays an important role for citizens, allowing them to pay attention to their health and personal matters. However, he also pointed to the other side of the issue: many Russians do not use their vacations for years, causing unused days to accumulate.

      He added that the idea of additional vacation days itself sounds attractive, but making a decision will require an assessment of possible consequences and the readiness of the government, trade unions and employers to agree to such changes.
