      On the evening of Tuesday, November 18, a fire broke out on the seventh floor of building No. 1A in the Aviastroitelny district of Kazan. According to witnesses, a loud bang occurred beforehand. Possibly gas equipment exploded in one of the apartments or a gas-air mixture ignited due to a leak.

      "The Prosecutor's Office of the Aviastroitelny District of Kazan has launched an investigation into the fact of the gas-air mixture explosion in the apartment building followed by a fire," confirmed the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan.

      Emergency services are currently on site. "Upon arrival of the fire units, open flame was occurring on the apartment's balcony. It was extinguished over an area of 5 square meters. The body of a deceased man was found. The cause of the fire will be determined by investigators of the State Fire Supervision," reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan. The causes of the incident will also be investigated by the prosecutor's office. The supervisory authority's staff, together with relevant specialists, will, among other things, check compliance with legal requirements for safety in the use and maintenance of in-house gas equipment.
