This was stated by the head of the Agency for Investment Development of the Republic of Tatarstan, Taliya Minullina, today at a business breakfast dedicated to the presentation of the program of regular flights from Kazan to Abu Dhabi by the UAE national carrier Etihad Airways.

      “Our enterprises work with the UAE very actively. The largest among them are KAMAZ, the Kazan Helicopter Plant, the Zelenodolsk Gorky Plant, Aurus, the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation, Tatshina, TAIF-NK, Khimgrad, POZIS, the Kazan Powder Plant. They have very concrete business contracts and supplies to the United Arab Emirates. Accordingly, just their negotiation processes already amount to a large number of filled flights,” she said.

      The national company of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, will launch direct regular flights from Kazan to Abu Dhabi on December 4. Flights will be operated on Airbus A320 aircraft three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Departures from Kazan are scheduled for 13:30, from Abu Dhabi — 08:20 local time.

      “I think that this company will now be a strategic partner for us so that we can develop business relations, hold joint business events and do a lot to ensure that the opening of this direct flight affects trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural, educational, sporting and tourist interaction not only between Tatarstan and the UAE, but also between Tatarstan and other Persian Gulf countries,” the head of the Agency for Investment Development noted.

      Minullina reminded that next year Kazan will officially become the cultural capital of the Islamic world. This decision was unanimously adopted in February by the ministers of culture of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at a conference in Jeddah.

      “Therefore, next year we will have to hold many interesting events dedicated to this title, our cultural and historical features, including for colleagues from Islamic countries. We hold many business events, and these direct flights will contribute to the emergence of new types of business and the growth of exports,” she emphasized.

      According to Minullina, business contacts between Tatarstan and the United Arab Emirates are developing. The Tatarstan delegation plans to take part in events that will be held in the UAE in December, she added.

      “On December 10 a meeting of the Russian-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission will be held in the UAE. On those dates a Russian-Emirati business forum will take place, where the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, will speak. We are traveling to these events with a large delegation practically immediately after the launch of the Kazan–Abu Dhabi flight,” concluded the head of the Agency for Investment Development.
