Stretching helps restore muscles, but it should be done only after warming up. Fitness trainer Sergey Litovchenko told Tatar‑inform this.
"It is useful to do stretching to restore muscle tissue, and rapid muscle recovery has a very positive effect on their subsequent growth and development. Such exercises can be performed regardless of whether you train in a gym or not. However, before doing stretching a person should warm up the muscles well, for example by marching in place or running on a treadmill. At the same time, stretching should be done gradually; you shouldn't stretch intensely right away," the agency's interlocutor said.
He also urged not to stretch before a workout, because before performing physical exercises the muscles are still "cold" and unprepared.
"It is best to do stretching after training. In general, a workout itself consists of three parts: warm-up, the training session, and cool-down. The latter can be either cardio or stretching, as a choice," the fitness trainer summed up.
