A serious road traffic accident with tragic consequences occurred in the Bavlinsky District. An 18-year-old driver of a Lada, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. As a result of the crash, his 19-year-old passenger, who was in the car, died at the scene from his injuries. The driver himself and two other passengers sustained injuries of varying severity and were taken to a medical facility.
“The preliminary cause of the accident was operating a vehicle while intoxicated,” the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan reported. “The young man got behind the wheel while intoxicated, which led to a loss of control of the car.”
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident. A probe into the road incident is underway, following which a procedural decision will be made.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of Tatarstan appeals to all drivers to strictly observe traffic rules and under no circumstances get behind the wheel while intoxicated. “One thoughtless act can lead to irreversible consequences,” the agency emphasized.
